Under 8's - FAQ
1) Will all the games be at Bulli this year? No, this year is the first year where we will play teams from other clubs at other grounds. Helensburgh through to Russell Vale.
2) Will the teams be graded? No, 8's do not get graded or grouped. Essentially what we will do is group together kids from different schools and different skill levels to get a mixed team.
3) When is training? all of the 8s will likely not train together. Different teams will train on different days depending on the coach and his/her availability.
4) Who are the coaches? The coaches are parents of players. If you would be interested in becoming a coach let us know.
5) Who is the coordinator? Chris Paul has graciously volunteered as Under 8's Coordinator for 2021. Contact our coordinator via email at 8s@bullijuniorfootball.com
Our main objective is to have fun and keep the game and smiles flowing.
6) My child is a good player will he be put with other good players? All players are good players in their parents eyes which is exactly how it should be. We do not group or grade, teams are made up of a variety of children no matter their gender, hair colour, religion etc.
7) What skills will my child learn this year? We follow the national football curriculum which is available on the football south coast website. Our main objective though for under 8's is to have fun.
8) What is the format for under 8's? Under 8's are non competitive and use the mini roos format.
9) Will games still be on Saturday? Yes!
10) Do I need to register? Yes, you can do this online only this year. Details are available by clicking the rego tab.
11) How many players on a team? About 9, as it will depend how many players register. Although only 7 players will play on the field at any time allowing for some substitutes.
12) How long will the games be? 2 x 20 minutes with a 5 minute break.
13) Is there a goalkeeper? yes this is the first year a goalkeeper is required.
14) What size ball? Same size as last year. Size 3.
15) My son/daughter wants to be a goalkeeper, can he/she be the team goalkeeper? In under 8's there are no fixed spots all players will be rotated through different positions to see how they like different areas of the game.
16) My children are twins can they be on the same team? Absolutely, we know how difficult it can be to get the children to different grounds so logistically this make sense, we'll do what we can in the team to ensure it is even.
